About 2 weeks ago one of my Canadian friends (originally from Shanghai) asked me if I had ever tried Dersou’s brunch. When I told her I hadn’t, she started rambling about how this place was managing to make a delicious mix between Asian and original « Western brunch » flavors.
She obviously got my attention and we decided to go try it out.
Owned by a French mixology bartender (Amaury Guyot) and a Japanese Chef (Taku Sekine), Dersou is located in the trendy neighborhood of Bastille, right next to the metro station Ledru-Rollin (line 8). Once you managed to get a table (yes unfortunately you have to queue but lets just say that it shows how good this place is!) you enter a very industrial vibe, for a second you could almost imagine yourself in Brooklyn or Chicago.
We got a seat at the counter and we ordered good old pancakes with maple syrup & fruits, vegetable gyozas and an avocado on toast with a poached egg and greens. Let’s just say that they don’t joke with the portions! We got about 4 big fluffy pancakes and a toast that could definitely be shared. That being said, the 3 dishes were delicious and cooked right infront of us (if you get a spot at the counter).
To wrap it up the place was lively, the personnel was super friendly and the bill was "ok" for a good brunch in Paris (around 20€ 1 dish+coffee).
One of the best brunches I’ve had in Paris!
