Need a moment to wind down? You will love Umami Matcha Café! Located next to République with a minimalist Japanese design and a delicatessen corner, this place is perfect for a couple mindful minutes.
Matcha has been a favorite in Asia for quite a long time but only recently did it become a huge trend in the Western world. If you want to discover the the art of matcha, Umami Matcha Café is the perfect place for you.
Not only can you have tea time and enjoy one (or more, of course) of the delicious matcha pastries such as a matcha muffin, cookie, pancakes etc.. you can also have one of the most exotic brunches in the République area.
My personal favorite if you are very hungry is the Umami Brunch. For €30 you can get a hot beverage (we recommend a classic matcha latte), a fresh orange juice, a homemade matcha brioche, matcha pancakes with yuzu syrup, scrambled eggs with black gomasio (black sesame seeds), fresh yuzu goat cheese with a side of salad, soy marinated chicken, a miso zucchini quinoa taboulé and a fruit salad.
For the less daring there is the Matcha Morning Brunch (€15) with a hot beverage, orange juice, the homemade brioche, wholewheat toast with a homemade yuzu jam, homemade granola with yuzu bark and a matcha smoothie bowl.
And of course there is a vegetarian option for €27 with the usual hot beverage, corn toasts with homemade yuzu jam, the smoothie bowl or the granola, homemade tofu with seeds, a rice cracker with black sesame and fresh herbs, a vegan salad and a sweet little pastry.
This place will make you travel in seconds!
